Anatomy and Muscle Course

Take it one step at a time

This course is designed to successfully teach you the muscles of the body. Learning on your own sounds like a good idea, but a subject as complex as kinesiology (the study of muscles) requires a guide to be effective. I will walk you through all of the details of the muscles we cover.

Here’s how I walk you through it:

  • This muscle course starts with lessons that introduce you to fundamental concepts surrounding the muscular system as well as kinesiology in general. From there we will make our way through 65 muscles in total.
  • In each lesson you have multiple ways to learn the information. You’ll watch a video introduction and then have an opportunity to review the material and quiz yourself on the content presented. You’ll have options to explore different kinds of learning tools to help reinforce what you’ve watched and read.
  • Each section has a cumulative test including 3D images to make sure you remember the information you’ve been presented throughout the lesson.

Here’s What You’ll Learn

Visuals are key to learning

We have used 3D models throughout the anatomy and muscle course. All videos use the 3D models to help you  see origins, insertions, and actions of muscles. This makes the information easy to visualize in the body. This in turn leads to better memorization, which is the name of the game when it comes to learning your muscles. Here’s the full outline

  • Introduction to the musculoskeletal system
  • Introduction to an area of the body and associated muscles
  • Breakdown and visualization of associated bony landmarks
  • Introduce a specific muscle, its origin, insertion, and action using 3D
  • Use our multiple memorization tools in each lesson

Hi, I’m David Keil, LMT, NMT

here’s why I created this course for you

Kinesiology, the study of muscles, was the first course I taught back in 1998. I taught it at a massage school in Miami, FL, where I was quickly confronted with taking a complex subject and making it accessible to students from every walk of life.

Since then teaching anatomy in the yoga world has been my passion and it has literally taken me around the world. I have been on a mission to return to teaching the basics, and make it accessible as an online course, for some time now. There are many resources out there for learning basics of kinesiology, but my experience tells me that being guided through the information by someone who knows how to break it down and explain it, is what makes the difference.

This is exactly what I did in my book, Functional Anatomy of Yoga. I took the complexity of anatomy and the complexity of yoga and brought them together in a conversational tone. Why? So that the people reading the book would understand it!
